Highlight: Igloo Kokolo

Near the town of Tizapan El Alto, Jalisco we did some volunteer work through WWOOF at a sweet  ranch called Igloo Kokolo.. It is located right on the edge of Laguna Chapala, the largest lake in Mexico. Igloo stands is for the fact that all of the structures on the lot are Igloos... and Kokolo stands for scorpion in a native language of the region (alacran in spanish).. Because the land is full of Kokolos... The owner Chavo plans on growing organic food on the lot, and for now work is still being done to get it ready for the food garden.. Most of the structures are built with earth bags & adobe and all of them except the kitchen is covered with concrete on the outside.. We helped Chavo excavate and move large boulders to build some stone walls.. It was hard and fun work!
